If EVERY Day Where Like Today…

Wow. What an awesome, awesome day. I think that today was one of the best days of my life. Here’s what I did:

Woke up about 7 AM to hang out with my son. My wife went to work and my little girl went to school, leaving me and little buddy at home for the day. I made pancakes for him (but he ended up eating fruit loops with milk) and we played blocks and Lego’s. My son is 2 1/2, so I’m still the “man” in his eyes. At about 9:30, we went outside. My son has one of those little John Deere electric jeep things, so he rode around the yard for about 20 minutes, while I raked up several piles of leaves. (I was listening to The Overnightscape on my Ipod Shuffle…) The weather was absolutely perfect. 80 degrees, a little breeze, nice sunny skies. Awesome. Little buddy then helped me pick up the leaves and carry them to the compost pile. Next, at about 11:00, we headed to the backyard to play on the swing set, eat pretzels, and drink our ice cold Mountain Dew (diet for me…). Little buddy likes the swing, but he REALLY likes to slide. After about an hour of playing in the backyard, we went inside for lunch. I cooked us a frozen pizza (I know, I know… junk food… but it’s a special day, so back off…) For dessert, we each had a small bag of M&M candies. At 1:00, we both laid down to take naps. He snuggled up close to me and fell asleep with his back to mine. I slept until about 2:00 to do some routine blog posting and Internet stuff, and then I downloaded a few more podcasts to listen to later. Little buddy woke up about 2:45, and we colored Sesame Street coloring sheets until 3:30 when Mommy and Little sister got home. Little sister gave me a big, big happy hug, and we sat for the next 30 minutes, and talked about school, gymnastics, and her friends. Mommy, Little buddy and Little sister packed up and headed out at about 5:00 for gymnastics’ practice, and left me home, to clean up the house and prepare supper. I decided to fix my favorites! I cooked fried chicken, fresh butter beans, mashed potatoes, and homemade cornbread. (I’m from the South…) I was able to check out a few TIVO’ed episodes of “Good Eats”, “The Colbert Report”, and “Mad Money”. Mommy and the kids got home around 8:00, had their baths, and they are all now in bed. I have the Florida St. vs NC State football game on “pause” and I’m updating my blog. I’ve got a full belly, a comfortable, clean home, a wonderful wife, and 2 precious kids… No matter how much money you manage to make, save, or acquire… You’d never be able to purchase a day like the day I had today.

Counting my blessings…
NCN
