Bill Review Reminder

Once or twice a year, I like to go through my monthly bills, and see if I can get discounts or drop service features. This week I’ll be reviewing my phone bill, cellphone bill, my automobile insurance policy, my renter’s insurance policy, my life insurance policies, and my satellite television bill. What am I looking for? I’m looking for loyalty discounts, non-switch offers, multiple policy discounts, etc. I will closely examine each bill, go online and do some research, and make phone calls to each of my billers, asking for discounts. You would be amazed at the money that you can save by simply asking for a discount. Last year, I received $100 from my satellite company, simply by asking for a discount on my current service. As for my life insurance policies, they all run out at the end of 2007, so I will be doing some research so that I can replace my old policies with new policies. (Term Life ONLY!) One of the side benefits of losing weight? I’ll receive insurance at a lower cost. I’ll update if/when various companies give me discounts. The first of the year is a good time to do this. You have a year’s worth of old bills that you can use for reference. Sort them by date, examine any changes to your account, and make your calls accordingly. Have some success? Leave a comment and let me know!

  1. Whole life insurance is simply an insurance policy combined with a poorly performing investment… you can buy 10 times the amount of life insurance for the same amount of money, and invest the difference for yourself…
