Great call on the car, unless the accident/repair is huge then I think it makes sense to keep the car and repair it (and drive it until the wheels fall off). If you have to get a new vehicle then opt for a 2-3 year old used vehicle with high reliability and low cost of vehicle ownership (most Hondas and Toyotas fall into this category). A new vehicle purchase is, in my view, a colossal waste of money.

Good luck!

This is genius! Make money, clean up the neighborhood, and lose weight through exercise. Recruiting the neighbors is a great idea too. Many people want to recycle, they just don't want the hassle of carrying everything to the recycling center. Hence the popularity of curbside recycling. YOU could be their curbside recycler for cans and make even more money!

Ah, the ebay-CD ladder idea is brilliant. I just might try that too... I have enough rubbish to try, at least. :)

NCN - Like your can collecting idea. I just wrote a post on the subject. You should consider telling your neighbors and friends about the idea and giving them crates/bins to save their cans for you. That way you enlist others to help with your goal and they just wait for you to swing by and pick up the cans.

Congrats on the weight loss, too!
