I'd never heard of the 43 folders method, and I'm looking into it in another browser...
I currently use a Franklin Planner and it works well (when I do). Time management isn't my biggest struggle ... it's kid management. Efficiency is really important for me to get all of my work done, as I am both a freelance writer and stay at home mom of three.

The problem I have will time planning - is that it takes a lot of time. Therefore, I don't plan my time each month, like I do my money. But, when things get out of hand, then I monitor my time for a week or so to find out where my time is going - which allows me to make changes with my priorities and to say NO to the things that I just don't have time for.

I like to keep a buffer of time in my schedule for extra things that come up so that I can always absorb them without stressing out. Sometimes, when I have a tight schedule (like when I was in college), I created a daily hour-by-hour schedule to keep me on task - but most of the time this is not needed. If you find yourself managing your time hour-by-hour everyday, then I think your too busy.
