Totally agree here. Budgeting and being frugal to a total extreme makes life boring and less fulfilling. I see some people get so carried away, they refuse to buy anything new or ever eat out. While saving is certainly a virtue (and not done by nearly enough Americans), allowing yourself a little fun every once in a while is good for your sanity. Thanks for reminding everyone of this. I think it is very important to enjoy your life while preparing for the future -- yes, it is possible to do both. Imagine if you spent the majority of your life living frugal and budgeting for the future so much that you never got to enjoy anything now, then died in an accident. It would be a shame! People can't be afraid to live a little.

Excellent advice, and yay! 33 days is complete!

remembering to live a little is sometimes the most difficult part of the process. After buckling down for so long and just getting through debt and crazy savings, it's important to remember that we're still alive, and life is still going on all around us.

I can't wait for the new baby :D

I love the recommendation from Paid Twice to live a little. Sometimes we forget life is about stopping to smell the roses. Congrats on your upcoming addition! Here's to a healthy delivery for mom and baby.

This is a great post.... It's good advice!

My addition would be to remember that spouses are probably different in the amount of "fun" money that satisfies them. My husband spends a little more each month than I do, and I've learned to live with that. I'd rather save it. I used to have a holier-than-thou attitude because I didn't "need" to spend as much as he did... but God really worked on my heart to realize that his personality is really that different from mine. He doesn't go overboard. It wasn't worth the energy I was expending (and the detriment to our marriage) to argue over $20 a month or something like that.
