I`m in the process of clearing all of my credit card debts right now. I have 7 500$ in debt, and it made me realize that I was paying more than a thousand dollars in interest every year on that debt. No wonder my debt in never going down, despite all my monthly payments!

I started the process of recovering from debt by selling or downgrading some of my physical property, including my car. It was emotionally tough, but got me on track. Here's the whole story:

"Instead of hiding my struggles, I began to seek the advice and council of money-smart folks"

I continue to tell people this power of association is very important

I like the fact that you pointed out will power, and choices that you made, as one thing that helped you achieve your goal of being debt free. To many times we look for ways to "deceive" ourselves so that we will not spend money.

In order to become debt free, we must focus on a higher goal that we wish to achieve rather than think of all the ways we could enjoy that new thingamajig.

We still have a long way to go, but thanks for the inspiration!

I find it admirable that you were able to face your compulsive spending/borrowing head on, and I think that most people may not realize they have that type of will power potential. I found that I needed to start out with the little tricks, and that once I had gotten used to the more frugal choices, living that lifestyle became easier.
