I simplely wanted to buy CD, they said I have to open scottrade account first, I was rush and didn't want to open an account, I had an old account with no money in it for 8 yrs, this account has joint name with my ex-wife that I didn't know at the latest moment, I deposited my money after divorce was settled 6 yrs ago, Scottrade still want me to share my money with my ex-wife. I explained and showed them the decree, and they still wanted to make me share my money with my ex-wife. Never again shall I return to this broker. I closed my account with Scottrade because they’re so stupid making my life miserable. I just added a 3rd checking account using only a routing number and account number. No snail mail or paper work required. So your information on how to link accounts is also incorrect. You are probably having trouble linking accounts because the account names don't match. Making it difficult in that case is good, because you don't want some hacker to easily drain your account, (they'd need a checking accout with your name). You are probably having trouble linking accounts because the account names don’t match. Making it difficult in that case is good, because you don’t want some hacker to easily drain your account, (they’d need a checking accout with your name).
