[...] Now that summer is drawing to a close, we’ll have a chance to resume our normal schedule. I don’t know about you, but the recent spike in gasoline prices have made staying on budget more challenging than ever. Our gasoline category keeps increasing, month after month. And, using my grocery store price book, I’ve noticed that food prices have gone up, rather dramatically, over the last year. Our entertainment category keeps shrinking and is almost down to the levels we had it at when we were aggressively paying off debt.
[...] I’m a pretty independent guy. I don’t mind being by myself and I could pretty easily spend a few weeks “right by myself”. But, when I decided to get out of debt, I wanted a forum where I could share my story. So, I created No Credit Needed. I wanted a place where I could be open, honest, and real.
[...] Ah, the good old Dave Ramsey-inspired Snow Ball method. Used by yours truly, this method works on the principle that we are motivated by watching ourselves make progress. So, instead of focusing on interest rates, you focus on account balances. Line up the balances, smallest to largest, and pay off the account with the smallest balance first. By focusing on the smallest balance, you can ’see’ your progress and you will be inspired, getting rid of one debt after the another. I liked this method, especially when I first started out, because every time I paid off an entire account, I was motivated to keep going, and going, and going. Does this method work? Read this post about me and my journey. [...]

Dollar Jingle I feel your pain. I am trying to keep the gas and lights on and food on the table. I put just enough on the on the bills to keep them on. It's hard trying to keep gas in the car to get back and forth to work.

Hello sir, i am writting to the group because me and my family need help. We are up to debt to our ears and we don't know how to get out. We have read many of the blogs on this subject. While all of them are good they do not address our problem. We have no extra money. We would love to do some of the things that was subjusted. But we have no "extra" money. All our money goes toward the bills. And we are drowning. We need help. So we are tring something different. Please help. You guys are our last hope.
